In recent years I've realized I spend more time looking forward than back. When I was younger I was under the assumption that it was supposed to be the opposite, that as I got older I would become more nostalgic and reminisce, or be filled with regret for past mistakes. But instead, I'm looking forward to the future, maybe this is the fine definition of optimism, or of happiness in general. Eagerness over nostalgia. Even anxiety or dread about the future, is better than regret, because there is still a small grain of uncertainty contained within it.
