'Why Can't We Be Friends' by War, has two small mistakes in the intro. It must be one of the most popular intros in all of pop music and yet they left the mistakes in. Did the mistakes make it popular, does that subtle bit of humanity and humility lend itself to reference so easily? If they were larger mistakes, or if the mistakes didn't exist, would it be as popular? When do you sand the edges off, when do leave them sharp and honest? When it's so tempting to edit and clean, when do you print as is? Does it matter? Are we all just rolling the dice?
